The Ona Convo — conversations on art and images.

The Ona Convo is an ongoing conversation series bringing together artists, filmmakers, photographers, animators and researchers to think critically about images and the ways they shape how we see, remember and understand the world. Rather than focusing primarily on biographies, careers or achievements, each conversation enters the questions, ideas and tensions within an artist's practice — memory, archives, representation, identity, ethics, technology, research, failure and the future of visual culture. The series creates a space for practitioners to articulate not only what they make, but why and how they make it.

At its core, The Ona Convo is about creating a living exchange of knowledge between practitioners. Each conversation contributes to a growing public archive of ideas and experiences around lens-based media, with the potential to connect emerging practitioners to established voices and make conversations that often remain within studios, classrooms or professional circles accessible to wider audiences. The Ona Hub extends these encounters across platforms, building an evolving record of how artists and researchers working in and around Africa are thinking through images today — and where visual practice might go next.
